Cambodia Gambling Dens
October 30th, 2015 at 21:21There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
