Salaries will vary by establishment and location. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) numbers show that full time gaming managers were paid a median annual amount of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,630, and the highest 10 % earned well over $96,610.
Gaming supervisors monitor gaming operations and staff in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they see that all stations and games are manned for each shift. It also is accepted for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating standards for patrons. Supervisors may also plan and organize activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.
Gaming supervisors must have certain leadership qualities and great communication skills. They need these abilities both to manage workers properly and to greet guests in order to boost return visits. Most casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. Despite their educational background, however, many supervisors gain expertise in other casino occupations before moving into supervisory desks because an understanding of games and casino operations is essential for these staff.
