Cambodia Gambling Dens
July 26th, 2026 at 7:25There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts on top of the gambling den, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
