Cambodia Gambling Dens
March 8th, 2020 at 5:25There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features numerous conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
